DAY 7 - REST DAY IN HOLLAND, MI

Mileage: 13.4 - Total Mileage: 362.0
Margarita Count - 12

My first rest day got off to a nice, relaxed start. There wasn't a hurry to pack up camp and get on the road. We all had our morning drink of choice (coffee, cocoa and Coke) while watching ospreys land in the trees above our heads. One young osprey had caught breakfast and was eating within sight. A few days ago in Elberta we saw a golden eagle and a bald eagle fly over our campsite.

Soon enough we were ready for breakfast so we packed up and made our way into Holland for food. We booked hotel rooms for tonight so everything went with us. Jon found a Tim Hortons in the general direction of our hotel, so we decided that would work for breakfast. As we were eating, I noticed a laundromat just across the street. Perfect -  next stop was decided! Even though we wash clothes out in the shower each day, everything definitely needs a good wash once a week. Trust me - you can tell when I am close to a wash day!

The grocery store was next on the list but we ran across a Walgreens first. We looked at the shopping list and decided we could get everything we needed there and could skip the grocery store. Score! The last stop before the hotel was the Rock and Road bike shop to get a new taillight for Jon. He lost his on a bumpy descent a couple days ago and needed a new one.

By the time we finished all the chores, it was after 2pm and time to head for the hotel. As you can tell, rest days are seldom full of rest. I was able to catch a quick nap before we ordered some pizza for dinner. I now have a couple hours to relax and get packed back up for another day. In some ways it is an odd feeling to constantly be moving and staying somewhere new each day. After a week, it is starting to feel like the new normal.

Only a couple pictures today. Jon in his stylish, plaid shirt (eat your heart out, Elie!) and a pretty part in the center of Holland, MI.
