For whatever reason, we thought we had about a 45 or 46 mile day. It wound up being about 51 - doesn't seem like much difference unless you are struggling through the day. I had a tough day on the bike today. My legs just wouldn't listen to my brain and move like I wanted them to. This was our 7th day in a row of riding before taking our rest day tomorrow. I guess my legs were ready for the rest day today!
While having a hard day on the bike is never fun, it does make you appreciate all the good days on the bike even more. This trip is definitely a physical challenge, but it is even more of a mental challenge some days. It's a good thing I'm stubborn!
After a shower, nap and dinner I'm feeling back to normal and looking forward to the day off tomorrow. We are staying over in Bowling Green for our rest day and have settled into a hotel. We took care of the laundry this evening right in the hotel since they had a guest laundry area. Bonus!
We had nice scenery today as we rode along the Maumee River most of the day. There were some nice small towns along the way as well. We have left the cooler climate of Michigan and northern Indiana behind. Today was warm and humid with a high of 90 degrees this afternoon. It's starting to feel more like Houston.
Old Fort Defiance on the Maumee River in Defiance, OH.
Early morning road on the way out of Defiance, OH. We weren't out as early as the last couple mornings so the sun was up a little higher.
Public Library in Florida, OH. It is a re-purposed old church from 1900.
The Henry County Courthouse in Napoleon, OH.
A lock on the Maumee River in Grand Rapids, OH, with the Maumee River and old railroad bridge.
Barns seen along the road today.
